How to… create a snazzy custom URL for your YouTube Channel
Ever wondered how to change that nasty YouTube URL which looks something like thisttp://www.youtube.com/channel/ UCITR6uKbPkure5pAbvR_79w to something a little more sexy such as your name?
Despair not, changing it is fast and easy, just how we like it..
As is often the case with these things, it’s easy once you know where to look. OK so here’s how to create a custom URL for your YouTube Channel.
Custom YouTube URL – easy peasy
As show below, on the top right of the screen click on the picture of yourself (or logo if a company/brand), this should open a small menu of option for both your Google account (right) and your You Tube account (left). Click on ‘YouTube Settings’.
You’ll see an ‘Overview’ and to the right of your pic/logo your name and email address. Directly below that, in blue it says ‘Advance’. This is not referring to your intellect but to the advance options available. Click on it.
The very first option is ‘Channel settings’ where your current nasty YouTube Channel URL is displayed. To the right click on the link ‘Create customised URL’ in blue, as shown below.
Type in your customise YouTube channel URL. As these must be unique you you may need to try variations to find one nobody has used. But CAREFUL, you can only change it once, so make sure you spell it correctly if you don’t want to explain to your boss why he will have to re-upload his 5000 videos because you wrote NTV instead of MTV…
And there you have it, now you know how to… change username and add a custom URL for your YouTube channel.
Told you it was easy!
